stuck in a frozen mud pit

yesterday puff in his pathfinder and steve in his lifted xj wanted to go over to the gaslines to go wheelin. i agreed to drive the tj over there and paul wanted to take zeke to get him out of the house for a bit.

it started out fine like everytime you go wheelin’. we hit the gaslines and ran down through the pine trees with the huge ruts at the greenway to the powerlines. then we decided to go back up to the gaslines through the woods.

i had the bright idea of taking this trail off the main one that goes through the woods towards sicolin. we make it almost to the end of the trail and then there’s this kickass mudpit that was all covered in ice. i drove through it first, the tj had a bit of trouble since the ruts were really deep and there was a lot of ice to break (haha not to mention the bald boggers).

the pathfinder made it through next by strattling the ruts around the pit. then came the xj and it nose dived right into the pit and got pretty badly hung up. i tried pulling him the rest of the way through the pit with no luck.

paul said he has been meaning to get a come-along winch from tractor supply anyways, so we drove over there, picked up the most badass one we could find and went back to the mudpit. after trying for a bit we still couldn’t get the xj unstuck.

as a last ditch attempt we called up steve down at advance autoparts who has a locked up tj on 35s with a nice warn winch up front. he said he’d be able to get him out after he closed down the store.

we all went back there one last time and steve went at it with his tj and a tow strap. after a good couple of minutes tugging the shit out of the xj he was finally able to get it unstuck. kudos to steve for not giving a damn about his truck and tugging like there’s no tomorrow.
