Project Go-Devil

UPDATE: in light of the upcoming cross-country trip, the ’48 CJ-2A and project Go-Devil can now be found on our new site with all the information about the trip and the two builds leading up to the trip:

Cross-Country Willys Trip ’08

well the 2A has spun a rod bearing in the F-134. so this means it’s time to rebuild that old L-head engine that has been sitting in the corner of the shop for a while.

the teardown

the first thing that had to be done was a complete teardown of the old l-head. this motor hasn’t been run in quite a long time. it originally came out of an old GPW from WWII.

here’s the bare block on the stand…

and all the internals spread out on the bench. (there’s some sort of creepy fog over the parts that only showed up in the photo–it’s probably the spirit of some dead nazi that was run over by this motor in WWII)

Project Go-Devil’s been put on hold until the spring. Too many things going on and not enough green stuff going around.
